Take Spring Action!

Your garage door gets a lot of wear and tear over time. It is an important entry to your home and it probably opened and lowered multiple times a day. Parts are inevitably going to break and the first to go is often your springs. The springs offset the weight of the heavy garage door and allows the door to operate easily by hand or by a garage door opener. However, if they are old and break, they can go flying at full-force damaging anything in their path. This is an incident you want to avoid at all costs.

How to know if your springs are beginning to fail?

You will start to notice any of the following symptoms, depending on what types of spring you have on your door:

-Your garage door will take more force to lift or you won’t be able to lift it at all (if spring breaks)

-The garage door opener will make sounds of strain when lifting the door

-The door will not stay in place when lifted. The door should stay in the up position with very little movement and without you needing to hold it up.

-If you notice gaps in the coils

- Left and right sides of your garage door are not aligned

-Visual signs of wear and tear on the springs, including the clips and loops
