Don't forget about your driveway!

Your driveway is one of the first things that people notice when they drive (or walk) up to your home; however, most people don’t give their driveways or walkways much attention! Let’s talk about what is involved in updating/repairing your driveway. Who doesn’t love improved curb appeal and added home value?!

CRUSHED STONE & GRAVEL

This is the least expensive option for a driveway in terms of installation, but it does require upkeep and maintenance. Which you probably already know by now! Gravel has a tendency to wash and scatter over time, necessitating the addition of new loads. Most businesses delivering gravel will use their vehicle to ‘spread’ the gravel as best they can for you to minimize the amount you have to spread and rake by hand. It will run you about $1 per square foot on average, but can be completed in several hours.

ASPHALT

If your paved asphalt driveway is cracked and damaged, it not only poses a safety hazard but is unpleasant to look at. The easiest and most cost effective option is to fill in a new layer over the old. Asphalt is a great choice for colder climates since it has the ability to slightly contract/expand. This is a very popular driveway material in our area and will cost you about $2 a square foot. It can generally be completed in 2-3 days.

CONCRETE

Unfortunately, badly cracked concrete drives generally require replacement. The good news is that they are aesthetically pleasing and can last up to 30 years. They give properties a very modern, clean look and enhance the beauty of that brand new garage we just built for you! A new concrete driveway will cost you around $4 a square foot. The kicker here is… you won’t be able to use your freshly-poured driveway for about a week since it will take time to cure.
